Bharadwaj Kannan is Associate Clinical Professor of Finance at the Smeal College of Business. He teaches courses in investments and corporate finance, with a focus on analytical rigor, student engagement, and real-world application.
Professor Kannan’s research is in empirical corporate finance, with a particular focus on the intersection of labor markets and firm behavior. His work examines how firms respond to labor market frictions and regulatory shocks, including layoff announcements, restrictions on employee mobility, and cybersecurity breaches. More broadly, his research explores how these forces shape corporate policies, innovation, investment, and long-term firm value. His work has been published in the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and Labour Economics.
