Celeste Diaz Ferraro is a doctoral candidate in the Smeal College of Business. Her scholarly endeavors - research, teaching and public engagement - are motivated by an interest in entrepreneurship and social innovation as a means of fostering more equitable, resilient and sustainable communities of well-being. At Penn State, she researches institutional infrastructure - systems of power and control that enable and constrain innovation - and teaches strategic management. Prior to entering the PhD program, she was a national award-winning advocate and held operational and strategy roles in global hospitality, consumer goods and sustainable development organizations. She also co-founded a social enterprise consulting firm supporting nascent mission-driven firms with tools for scaling growth and social impact. A first-generation college graduate, she holds a BA in Communication from Trinity University and an MBA in International Business from Georgetown University.
