Karen joined the Smeal College of Business in 2002 in the Diversity Enhancement Office and now works as a Senior Academic Adviser in the Office of Undergraduate Education. She serves on the Smeal Diversity Task Force, is a Title IX resource person for the college, and the commencement coordinator. Her advising goal is to ensure an equitable and fulfilling college experience for all undergraduates and to help guide students toward a greater awareness of self that aligns with their interests.

Karen lived abroad in Taipei, Taiwan for nearly ten years and is conversational in Mandarin.  Outside of work, she spends her time biking, practicing yoga, cooking, and writing.
